The future: a dying Earth has been abandoned, the poor and weak left behind. While Earth's elite survivors colonized Mars, its outcasts--the miscreants, criminals, fringe-dwellers, crackpot scientists, and sociopaths--fled inward, to Venus ("a place fit for scumbags"). Three generations later, the denizens of Venus, strengthened by hardship forged in brutality and hellish conditions, are thriving. Attracted by the successful launch of Venus's second floating "cloud city," the corporate fascists of the Mars Council launch an insurgency for control of Venus... but Braxton, the third generation leader of this colony of outlaws, will fight to save his family dynasty. Previously published in Dark Horse Presents, this is the collection--and continuation--of Ken Pisani and Arturo Lauria's highly praised sci-fi drama Colonus. "COLONUS quenches its audience's thirst for intelligent science fiction via a cocktail of killer art, grounded characters, and unique world building--finished off with a splash of subversion." -Nicole Perlman, Guardians of the Galaxy screenwriter "Loved it! COLONUS is another fresh take on what the future holds for mankind. This is the kind of sci-fi I live for." --Jimmy Palmiotti, Harley Quinn, Painkiller Jane "A hell of a story with echoes of Arthur C. Clarke and Greek tragedy, one that gives us an image of our own times." --Denny O'Neil, Batman, Green Lantern/Green Arrow "Big, expansive, filled with a rich curiosity of distant worlds and people, all of which become vehicles for examining humanity in its barest form." --Michael Moreci, Hoax Hunters, Roche Limit "Bada bing! A mob war in space! Bad ass and righteous--even Tony's crew would not f*ck with these guys!" --Joe Gannascoli, The Sopranos "Total Recall on steroids. If Frank Miller and Mike Mignola had a love child, his name would be Arturo Lauria. I'm drooling for the next chapter." --Monkeys Fighting Robots "5 out of 5 stars! Pisani creates a world that is so immediately believable that it's almost too scary to read. And speaking of horrific, Lauria's artwork is amazing and terrifying and compelling all in one." "High concept...but also effortless. FANTASTIC premise, an incredible, brilliant allegory on the growth of nations into power. Arturo Lauria's artwork is striking a bold." --The Beat: Comics Culture "A great balance of sci-fi, a touch of horror, and a perfect dash of quirk. Gritty...with just the right amount of deadpan humor mixed in." --Comics Grinder "Arturo Lauria has created a future full of hard edges, sharp angles, and hard contrast. It's strange, but...beautiful (granted, in a dark, terrifying way)." --All Geek to Me "Fun, smart sci-fi with a striking visual style. We need more sci-fi like COLONUS in comics!" -Fred Van Lente, X-Men Noir, Spider-man, Archer & Armstrong "An intergalactic good time."

Frequent collaborators RICK REMENDER (BLACK SCIENCE, Uncanny Avengers) and GREG TOCCHINI (Last Days of American Crime, Uncanny X-Force) dive into an aquatic sci-fi/fantasy tale following two teams from the last remaining cities undersea as they race to the most unexpected alien world of all -- the surface of Earth. Joyce Farmer's memoir chronicles the decline of the author's parents' health, their relationship with one another and with their daughter, and how they cope with the day-to-day emotional fragility of the most taxing time of their lives. Joyce Farmer, best known for co-creating the Tits 'n Clits comics anthology in the 1970s, a feminist response to the rampant misogyny in underground comix, spent 11 years crafting Special Exits, a graphic memoir in the vein of Alison Bechdel's Fun Home or Harvey Pekar, Joyce Brabner, and Frank Stack's Our Cancer Year, about caring for her dying father and stepmother.

The explosion in popularity of manga (Japanese comics) and its sister genre anime (comic films) in the western world in recent years has been nothing short of phenomenal. While many in the West still view these genres as a very modern invention rooted in a unique style of children's animation, the true origins of Japanese cartoon drawing date back almost 800 years to crude drawings on temple walls. In 1702 artist Shumboko Ono made a book out of prints of these pictures and the tradition of Toba-e, as these comics were originally known, grew over the next two centuries. Today these comics form a large proportion of the literature for the whole of Japanese society. The growth in popularity of manga in the West has been accompanied by a number of books on the subject - not merely translated manga comics but, of late, instructional guides to drawing characters. There have also been several scholarly tomes teaching the origins of the genre in Japan, but this is the first book to focus on the characters themselves, featuring 500 of the most famous from 1890 to the present day in full colour. Following a brief overview of the history of Japanese comics, the book is divided by character into chapters including male and female heroes and villains, anti-heroes, non-humanoid characters, teams, historical and literary characters. Each and every character included has a potted biography of their life in Japanese comics and the date of their first appearance, while 50 key characters such as Astro Boy, Akira, Lupin III and Pokemon are explored at length in special spotlight pages. There are also feature splashes on famous artists and series and crucial developments in the manga story. ''500 Manga Heroes and Villains' is the first book of its kind to assess the huge range of manga characters in illustrated form. Packed with colour illustrations it is an essential and accessible reference tool for first-time enthusiasts and manga historians alike. Manga has become a global phenomenon Featuring profiles of the 500 most famous manga characters Illustrated with 200 colour images Written by one of the leading experts in manga outside of Japan
